63The mention of medical jobs makes us think only of doctors but there are many other positions besides the doctors or medical specialists that a lot of people from different fields of study can pursue. 1. Medical Assistants: The work of a Medical Assistant or MA is to assist the doctor or nurse with routine administrative and clinical work. They help to administer ECG, blood tests, urine tests and other various procedures. Their job also includes interacting with patients and informing the right precautions before leaving the clinic. You need to be certified to get this kind of Medical jobs and so you need to appear a test and pass it for becoming an RMA or Registered Medical Assistant.
2. Nursing: Besides certified nurses, there are other Medical jobs an individual can pursue such as LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or CAN (Certified Nursing Assistant). LPN has a little seniority between the two. Their additional work is to help in preparing the patient treatment plans besides the other responsibilities that a CAN does. There are nurses of other types such as occupational health nurse, learning disability nurse, school nurse, pediatric nurse as well as sexual health nurse.
3. Ultrasound and X-Ray Technologist: If you are fond of machines then you can either become an X-Ray technologist or ultrasound technologist. These medical jobs will enable you to help would-be parents to see the picture of the unborn baby or the position of the bones and other diseases. Ultrasound technologists are also called diagnostic medical sonographers. Alternatively, the other name for X-ray technologists is radiologists. Therapeutic radiographer is another related job profile. They work with the oncology team for providing radiation therapy to cancer patients.
4. Surgical technologists: It is understood that the job of a surgeon is doing surgery but for doing his job he needs assistance. This is where the surgical technologists come in handy. They ensure that all the instruments required for the surgery is available and accounted for. Hence, this is one of the medical jobs which need a lot of attention.
5. Medical Support: This specialized job does not require an MD but the individual needs to have a diploma or course in their chosen specialty. Some of the medical jobs that can be pursued are as follows dietician, nutritionist, health psychologist, exercise physiologist, occupational therapist, language and speech therapist, podiatrist, clinical psychologist, forensic psychologist etc. They are not certified doctors but are not less than doctors to the patient.
6. Medical Transcriptionists: This is the only job where there is no interaction between the patient and the individual. They help doctors to transcribe speeches and audio notes into written format and add to the file of the patient.
